Ever find yourself in a place where you have to make a decision you don't want to make? Or where you are forced to do something you'd rather not? Make a list of them. Or situations that require a choice be made and leaves some grey area. Not necessarily a moral quandary (though those are fine, too), but something with meat on its bones. Deciding how and when to let a co-worker know their last day is today, triage or accident scenes, anything involving divorce or finances (especially during hard times).
Pick one and put it in narrative form. Walk us through the decision-making process by showing what the choices are, not by talking through them. Let the reader inside the narrator's eyes.
