Have you ever translated a poem from another language?
You're about to.
Don't panic. The poem doesn't actually exist.
Come up with a title for your poem you're translating. Name the poet, too.
Look for the limits of what our language can and cannot convey. Feel free to footnote it with notes about how this is the closest the translator can come to appromixating the heartbreaking use of subjunctive, which really doesn't translate well into English.
Feel free to make the poem you're translating come from an extinct, dead, non, or semi-existing language. Klingon, for example. Old Corellian. The language of falcons (especially golden ones). Statue-ese?
