As far as we know, this is how it works: somebody sent somebody a prompt for a poem. That person sent that poem to somebody else, who wrote in response to it, or used it as prompt for another poem. Then they told two friends. And they told two friends. And…

Okay, that’s probably not how it really works, but we heard about this idea secondhand.

Also, telephones were definitely almost maybe involved, unless they weren’t.
